Report from the 2011 Arthur Ross final in Wellington on March 11-13th.

Lexia Fox on a 12 Handicap from the Waimate Club represented the Croquet SouthCanterbury Association at the event.

There were 18 players in the event  which was divided into 3 blocks. Only 6 players representing the South Island  attended, these being from Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Otago.

Lexia was drawn in Block three along with the eventual winner of the event (and runner up)! Both of whom are in the NZCC Youth development squad.
Lexia's results from block play:
Leo  van Osten (Canterbury) a 23-6 win for Lexia in which she had 7 bisques.Bob Ayles (Taranaki) a win for Lexia 16-15 in which she had 4 bisques.

Against John Wall (Manawatu), Lexia lost 23-26 with 13.5 bisques. Against Josh Smith(Wanganui) the event winner the score was 10-20 with 5 bisques. Against the runner up Sean Foster(Counties Manukau) 16-26 with 11.5 bisques.

Lexia then went in to the consolation event and had a win against Colin White (Auckland) 20-16 with 6 bisques. then followed a loss giving 6 bisques the score being 5-12 to Dianne Chartris (Hawkes Bay), her last game was against Dallas Cooke ( Thames Valley) in which she had 11 bisques and lost 8-26.
Lexia thoroughly enjoyed the experience and says she has learnt a lot. The competition was well run the people friendly and the food great! The three days of croquet were physically and mentally very demanding and she needed a couple of days to recover. Lexia was proud to wear the South Canterbury colours and represent the Association.
